Does anyone know what type of teardrop this is?

Postby johnny_swindle » Wed Nov 30, 2016 6:46 pm

]I have been lurking on this site for many weeks and just now working up the courage to post. I have been looking at build journals, and reading all of the helpful hints that builders here have offered other members.

In my searching for teardrop plans, I ran across this image on a site called TexasKayakFisherman.com. On this site he references a site http://www.mikenchell.com/forums/ . Unfortunately the site no longer exists but the name looks similar to the site admin for tntt. All that I know is the builder gose by SteveT32 on shutterfly.

Looking at his build journal on shutterfly, it as a very uncomplicated build.....simple interior and simple cabinets but had a/c and sink.

I have no idea what was the basis for this build was but I do know that is is longer that 8 feet. Would any venture a guess what was his starting point?

Thanks....

Johnny

I can't be sure but looks a little like the New Cub under Design Resources here.

That's Steve. His username is Sonetpro (or sonet pro, or SonetPro??). Lives somewhere in south Texas on or near the Gulf coast. His TD is called the FishInn?? or something like that. He used to attend all the South Central gatherings with us but I haven't heard from him for at least a couple of years. He's an avid (& pretty successful) salt water kayak fisherman...

That's it! His build thread is called Fish Inn and is somewhere in the General Discussion section. (Back when he built his, this site didn't have a Build Journal section.)

I found a page of his thread here: http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83 ... 11#p102311

And, his photos are here: http://tnttt.com/gallery/search.php?user_id=1865

I believe he called it a Modernistic(?) style.

This forum started out as the mikenchell forum many years ago. I don't know if the old posts we're kept when the domain name changed or not.

Haven't seen him in awhile. His teardrop is a stretched Cub/Modernistic. I believe the length was 11 feet but maintained a height of 4 feet.

Again my smart phone isn't allowing me to access the design library. If you can acces the design library, it's the new cub design. Download or open the side view print. You'll see the framing 8ft long, and it ends right before the front and rear radius starts. So the front and back radius extends past the frame. Let me know if you need a link or a pdf copy of the drawings. The library was lost, but people have chipped in and rebuilt it. I have most of the original library on memory stick!

Thank you....I was able to access the files and I see what you are talking about.

I am wondering if I could do the same thing but with a benroy without extending the trailer?

Your thought on this?
