Air conditioner

Does anyone have any info on the outside ac units that Little guy trailers uses? Do they work well? How much? I like the idea of the whole unit outside

Not sure off hand and I haven't looked at one in a while but they could be using one of the pet cool units. They are pretty popular for teardrops.

That one that is heater and ac is indeed interesting - if not a little pricey. Thanks for making me aware of these.

PS: Gives new meeting to sleeping in the dog house.

Yeah unfortunately we live in tx where you need AC 9 months out of the year and sometimes even in december... (can't wait till we head somewhere cooler) Very little good camping weather here.

I have a Climate Rite A/C on my TT, 5,000 btu and it keeps the trailer at 74f in 90+ temps. Did have to get the thermostat because the remote wouldn't work from inside the trailer. This will be the third summer with it and really like it. I think that is the model that Little Guy uses, though it might be the 2,500 btu size which should be enough to cool a teardrop.

There's a new ac that will be coming out soon. It's called a Noria window ac. I think it's still on that kick starter but once they go public, it might be a good unit. I have a 5,000 btu unit I slide in a access door once I hit the campsite. Works real good. A lil expensive but better that hauling a big heavy ac.

Looking at the picture of the hardware I'm not impressed. First thought was it was a peltier style unit because of the size. I seriously doubt it will meet the performance they are claiming not to mention it has the look of a kick starter that will fail (unrealistic goals).

We had a pet cool which at 2500 BTU did not cut it. I adapted a 5,000 BTU Frigidaire window unit and wrote it up http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=44561 . what has been fun is to see what others have done with the idea and improvements on my start.

Thanks Shadow Catcher, does that set up seem to work in Aug temps with high humidity? I might try that

This has worked well after the learning curve.Camped on the South Carolina and Florida coast during summer [very humid] and put out 3 to 4 gallons condensate a day.
Inside very comfortable.

Has anyone seen a 5k btu window unit that was a heat pump? I haven't seen a unit that small. However there are other ways to heat and it's allot easier and cheaper to heat then to cool.

We have had a number of 90F 90% humidity trips and have been comfortable, a good amount of condensate on the ground in the morning. One thing to remember the interior of Compass Rose is about 400 cubic feet (large for a tear).

That looks like Florida dirty sand. We used to go to Wauchula in Feb until lots dad passed away a couple years ago.

5 gallons of condensate is doing pretty good. When I put the new ac in our house I tempted the drain into a bucket to see how much it produced... Quite a bit. This was before summer and it was producing 5+ gallons a day (3.5 ton unit) it probably produces 4 to 5 times that in the summer.

I could definitely see a drain tube running away from the camper to keep the mud away from it.
