Slow:

Since Wyoming is about 50% USFS or BLM ground, can't you find a place to boondock and avoid the crowds with their generators?

The eclipse is one weekend in August. There are lots of other weekends between now and then when you can camp in those very same campgrounds.

If you're local, you gotta know some spots the tourists don't? I used to live in a tourist town and every year from May to Sept. we had twice the normal population, but we had our places to go to get away from it

the tree huggers that for voted out of Washington dc wanted at one time to make the hole state of Wyoming to a national park.

Slow:

I musta missed that vote but having seen the eastern part of Wyoming with its bobbing oil wells bouncing like monks praying to an unseen god, I too would have let it slide. ;) (That's a joke, BTW.) :FNP

You've got roughly 50,000 square miles of public land in Wyoming to find your own slice of the solar-wink pie in without having to worry about a pair of hairy-legged backpackers or a home-on-wheels RV blocking your view. Surely there's some hidey-hole you're aware of? Some place you had to bust a heifer out of?

Your glass may not be full, but it has lots of water to swish around.

The path of totality is very long, so finding a campsite for the eclipse may still be possible. I have a private spot available for me through a friend in TN that is in the path of darkness. The next eclipse is in 2024. The weather is the issue- tying oneself to a paid campground that ends up with cloudy weather is not what i want - I will be flexible, even if it means watching it in a Walmart parking lot .

The title of this thread had me concerned about what kind of camping you where proposing.

But seeing you meant about the eclipse I continued reading anyway. :D I still plan on going about Howe Idaho into the Little Lost River area. Not much development there. I still plan to make a scouting trip May/June if we dry up by then.

The 'Tree Hugger' memo must have been all tied up too.
