Air ride on trailer

Postby HotRod1 » Fri Feb 03, 2017 9:01 pm

Has anyone used air ride on their build?
I have used it on truck and car builds and have it on my semi trucks.
I was thinking of a simple trailing arm set up, with a set of inboard shocks.
Get to the campground and lower it down for easy entry. It would only be about 5 or 6 inches difference. But would be cool.

AT overland seems to swear by their air bag trailing arm design:

Hopefully someone else who made their own, or purchased a system can come in on their effectiveness.

Interesting idea however I would want to raise the trailer for easier entry not lower it.

Interesting setup, if you just replace that shock with a air unit.
You might not have much travel. When doing an air ride set up, you typically want the airbag or shock to be as close to vertical as possible. That keeps everything from binding. Or at least along the arc of the axle travel.

Elcam84, raising the trailer to make getting in and out easier might be better, but I would need it to lower to match the TV.

To get the look I'm after, I might need to notch the frame for clearance at the axle. With a 5" drop axle it wouldn't be much. An inch or two, hopefully it will be hidden in the gallery cabinet. If not I'll need to rethink somethings.
