Carry-On 7x12?

I am looking at a Carry-On 7x12 as the basis of a travel trailer. We are about to move, so I will use it first to haul furniture and such, then once settled, get to building it into something cooler. My questions are about the trailer itself:

- The specs say it weighs "999 pounds". That number has been questioned by some who think it's an underestimation. Is there any reason to doubt it? Lighter is better, to me! Here are the specs...

- I have been told by others (competitors to Carry-On) that the Carry-on is light because it's made from thin/cheap stuff. What is your experience with it's quality?

My first reaction is and not necessary correct is:

I think it is light.
3" frame on the low end. I personally like the 4" frames.
Total weight Capacity (including trailer) is only 2990 lbs
1/8 in Luan interior. Very thin in my opinion.
2" coupler. On the small size for me.
I am not sure about the 24" on center frame members. I am not sure what mine is. May be ok.

If the price suits you, then it may be ok. But you might find it is the low end of the choices....but then what do I really know.
