34 years old here. Built my first teardrop 7 years ago, camping in my third build right now, and in the early early planning stages of my 4th. It's a slippery slope!

53, built my td over about 3 years. Mostly winters. Had a popup first. Too much of a hassle to setup. Like to pull, level it, plug it, open a beer while lighting the fire. All in about 15 minutes! Try that with a popup!

32 and building mine. I suspect the average age is going to start dropping a bit as more young adults/early middle-agers eye the efficiency over a proper RV.

The demographic I have seen over the years shows a TD campers are divided into two distinct groups.
Singles or young couples without kids 25 to early 30's, and Empty Nesters 50 to 75 ish.
There is a big hole in the middle where campers are too busy with their kids to build and camp...... and if they do, they do it with a camping unit suitable for family camping.
TDs are ideal for those who like to travel and explore the country by themselves or with other like minded friends.

Great time for reuniting with the spouse that you have had to share with your children for 20 years. ;)

So, since I'm dead in the middle of that "hole" I want to chip in.
I have 4 kids, all daughters. If the entire family goes camping, momma and any of her babies who want to, sleep in the TD. Me and any who want the extra space sleep in a tent next door.

Most of the trips though for our TD, are Dad and kids. We do a lot of "daddy daughter vacations" where dad goes with one of his girls on a trip of their choosing. Often its a touring trip, example Hershey Pennsylvania, by way of Ohiopyle, toss in some mini adventures along the road trip and call it good. A weekend at Cedar Point, or a thousand mile road trip across Michigan. Do a run through Alpena, hit some nice beaches, check out the old ship wrecks, and go fossil hunting at the old quarries. These types of trips are the bread and butter of our TDs adventures. Toss some bikes on the car and a canoe, and there's not much adventure you CAN'T take on.

Add in the occasional great lake visit, hunting/fishing trip, and visiting friends and relatives, and the TD makes a great solution for young families big and small in my book.

Add in that when I had my Scion XD hatchback, I still got 28 mpg towing it, it was a CHEAP way to take a vacation. We'll see how the newer much larger Kia Sorento (AWD V6) does with it in the next few weeks.
My build, 5x8 modified benroy "Smiles to go". Started April 2nd 2015, first trip August 2nd 2015.
