I almost headed to town for bolt cutters one time. No keys could be found. But one good well placed hit on the typical lock we buy these days using my wood splitter wedge and "pop" it was off.

The jack stand is a nice feature but I can't tell from the photo how this works is a deterrent to theft. What is the lock connected to?

In the picture the lock is open. This would not be the case in a campsite. The thief would have to cut the hitch lock to remove the hitch from the stand.

Saw a guy put a Denver boot on the wheel. Must have been custom, but it is not going to be headed down the road.

Back in the 60's, there was a magazine with a Auto columnist who was asked about the best way to keep your car from being stolen. His answer:

"Leave a full grown alligator stretched across the front seat"

If it works - :wine:

You could also put a Spot in the rig. Let you know right away someone took it, and where to tell the cops to find them.

I have found this solution interesting, but the annual fee gets me and what if you are off the grid? Will it continue to send alerts when it reaches cell phone reception. $5 per month might be worth it for a infrequently used service. Now if I was traveling a lot, it is a different story.

It communicates by satellite, battery powered. Within those constraints - they don't stash it in a tunnel somewhere, or you neglect the batteries - and if you also have the Spot itself for Backcountry travel, you get a lot.

We've camped in campgrounds with lots of people around. MOst people won't bother breaking in to grab anything, but you invite theft if you leave stuff within sight and easy reach.
we lock the valuables in the car, out of sight has always been enough. If they break in, our cars both have alarms, and insurance.
bikes might get locked to the rack or trailer, but this is more for away from the campsite than at it.
I've never been at a campground I had any real concern about my tears being stolen, I would remove a wheel if I did.
MOst campers seem to be stolen out of backyards from what I read, If you live in the city where this is more of an issue, I would store it without wheels on it, while it could be hauled off with a roll back truck, most people won't have one and people tend to notice a towing company name on a truck.

Anything you can get a bolt cutter on is toast, Do a search on Youtube for bike locks.

These days, anything you can get an 18V cordless Sawzall or die grinder on also.
make it harder to move, an 18V impact driver will remove a wheel in seconds, and lock the wheel in the car, and most thieves will move on to easier pickings.

You can get gps trackers reasonably cheap.
Bombs you can detonate from your cell phone probably less cheap.
