How have you progressed in tear camping over the years?

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Bought mine in spring of 2010, added a side tent the year after for the grandkids or dog. Last year a small solar panel and battery to run my fan. I got lucky in the first one I bought is perfect for me. Well I did read a lot here and asked a few questions before I bought it so I had a good idea what I wanted. So my only progression is more trips and more fun.

I started with a 5x10 teardrop in 2006 when I was 56. Ten years later I built a 6x12 standee teardrop as pulling on my pants lying down became more difficult. My latest project is refurbishing a 1962 Airstream 22' Safari.

Before the teardrop there were assorted tents and pop ups.

If you started out with Spam and eggs, why "progress" from there? I love my Spam.

I started camping with my 4x8 TTT, at 63 (when I first ventured out with it; it'll never be "finished"), 30+ years since I was active outdoors (racing doesn't count). Now a few years later, I have the same trouble pulling on my pants lying down, so I'm altering my 4x8 to accommodate my new physical infirmities; I love my TTT, and don't see the need to build another. Progress isn't always for the better; appreciate what you have.

I still have both the teardrop and the standee. I got the itch for another project. New challenges, new learning experience.
