My "different kind of pop-up" is done

Postby les45 » Sat May 27, 2017 1:52 pm

For those who may not follow the journals, I thought I would show my finished project, a standy made from an old pop-up. The walls are all foamy construction to replace the old canvas and the queen size bed is totally inside the cabin shell with no outrigger beds. A full width 20" shelf folds out on each end to give me lots of storage and provides for sloping end walls to break up the monotony of the cube look. The queen size bed has storage underneath and the old dinette was cut down and re-used to make seating for two. The little galley cabinet was something that I already had and it provides lots of storage for the kitchen stuff. It has a simple AC/DC electrical system inside the left dinette seat providing AC power to four interior and one exterior receptacles for appliances and chargers and a DC system utilizing a computer power supply for lights and Fantastic Fan. There is also a porta-potty stored under the right dinette seat.
Here are a few pics to recap the project:

This is the old pop-up that I started with. It was a 1989 Jayco Model 1006.

This is the final project all set up.

No, we are fair weather campers so I did not replace the AC unit. Just a Fantastic Fan.

 Looks terrific! Did you put a decal on both sides? (I'm thinking it's a decal, right?) ... Nice choice of colors! ...Brings it all together well.
Thanks for sharing. Well done! :applause:

Yes, we thought it needed some color in the walls so I put the same decal on both sides. The sun over the mountains matched the yellow stripes. It doesn't show up well in the other pics but my wife also kept the yellow and gray theme in the curtains and bedspread on the interior. Here is a better pic of the decal.
