I don't know, I never head out when it is that cold. I'll check with my propane expert but I think there is a bottom limit to a propane tank temperature.
We've been out in November with the slide in camper, in -25 the 20 pound tank will give us heat for 3 days. The way they are mounted in the side of the camper there is just some galvanized metal between the heated interior and the tanks so maybe they keep warm enough in there to not cause problems. We never had any issues with the propane not working.
