Independent Stub Axle

Postby Jammin » Sun Dec 31, 2017 9:27 am

I am in the planning/drawing stage of building a 5' x 10' teardrop. I just bought a trailer that used to be a 6 x 10 pop-up camper. Got a good deal and bought it sight unseen. Brought it home and realized the axle width is to narrow and the trailer is really a 6 x 12 trailer. So going threw my options and shortening the trailer is easy but changes axle location. Then the axle is not usable because it is to narrow. If I bought a independent stub axle https://www.amazon.com/Reliable-Capacit ... B018T1UMAE I can make the frame width what ever I want and locate the axle where ever I want. Has anyone ever used this type of axle?

Mor/Ryde, Dexter, Timbren, Dallas Smith are the leading ones.

Traditionalists say not robust enough for offroading, more expensive long-term.

True harder to fix out in the boonies, have to wait for replacements to be shipped in.
