Boondocking

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Boondocking

Postby Chujk » Thu Mar 29, 2018 2:25 pm

Not sure if this should be in general discussion but looking for suggestions for boondocking and affordable camping locations, the bulk of my outings are dry camping off grid.
I use https://freecampsites.net for searches when on the road, it is a great website and would suggest it to all especially when all you want is a quick layover. Home base is southern Ontario Canada so i am looking for locations Ontario and East and North Eastern United States

if anyone has any leads on websites or bloggers for boondocking i would really appreciate the heads up

happy camping and thanks in advance, Chuck

Found an app the other day that looks really good. I haven’t used it yet, other than to poke around a bit, but it sure looks like a great tool. And for less than $5, it’s tough to go wrong.

Ultimate Public Campgrounds is the name of the app.

I use the Ultimate Public Campgrounds and it is great. I purchase the POI list and download to my GPS...so it's easy to find a place to stay when on a trip. I like it because it doesn't include any commercial campgrounds. It's not always 100% accurate, but no campground list this large will ever be.

I haven't used my Garmin since I got a new car with navigation but when I did I liked this site:

Thanks, app downloaded but I don't see any way to link POI coordinates to navigation. Could be operator problems. Thanks again

Thanks to all, some great resources here, a little different now than 20 years ago when you would tour around aimlessly and hope something would work out.

Happy camping all.

I've recently found this site. I haven't used it yet.
