Something not mentioned....

Also use it on toilet seats and then wipe down with paper towel.... Helps kill odor in pit toilets...

Disinfectant might be a good idea. The majority of bathrooms are usually useable but I have encountered a few that could not pass a biohazard test and make me want to take a shovel into the woods.

Together with the disinfectant I also use the paper cover for the toilet. No matter how clean it looks, I don't trust it.

Its not like using these facilities alone will result in an std.

I've found the houses in Yellowstone to be clean but often used. You just gotta follow the posted directions:

Just curious. Has anyone here ever gotten sick from a toilet seat? How about a friend that did? Or how about someone's mother, who has this friend, who's third cousin heard of a guy that got sick. Yeah some can be disgusting, but short of having an open wound on your butt, we are pretty safe.

My high school sweetheart told me she got pregnant from sitting on a toilet.

I am not worried about getting a festering carbuncle on my ass from a shower. Its more the schifoso factor when the drain is slow or clogged, and high tide is reaching the top of my sandals. It takes a lot more wine to get the guest in the mood after an unpleasant shower experience. Maybe this is something that only I have been fortunate enough to experience. Its an enduring travel memory.

Some showers are OK, others are quite unappetizing and lack clothing hooks. Its pretty variable when traveling. Best to take waders, inflatable floating soap caddy and not tell your date what you have seen trying to crawl out of the drain or bobbing in the surf.

After a traumatic experience I splash on some Aqua Velva after shave, open a box of my finest Zinfandel and ignite the Duraflame (Extra Crackle) log to create a romantic "one match" multicolored shower recovery for my date.

When did CAMPING become genteel ?? There’s always the Old School Shovel … Bring your own potty ... or the real obsessives can bring mop and bucket for a quick "swish and a flick" before nether contact …
Do the Bears …... ? Yes they do !!!

How about a Garden Sprayer filled with Common Vinegar … That Cleans everything and kills germs too … Just spray the whole place down … STERILIZED… :o
There’s no place like Foam !

  • For many years, I worked & played among many "uncivilized" personnel at work, at racetracks, and loading docks, without care or good personal habits: toilet seats were not lifted, seats were stood upon, and toilets left unflushed for hours/days. I may not be the cleanest person around, but those bad habits were beyond my tolerance, so I always carried a can of Lysol when I was at work, and a supply of "kitchen wipes" when racing (good for cleaning grease/oil off your hands, too). I use them at campsites, for all my cleanup, also, since I always have some in my truck & camper, just in case.
  • But, I'm considering always carrying a pocket-sized alternative with me, for the times my wife drags me to a street festival, a music venue, or even a stadium (where bad bathroom habits also thrive). I'm getting old, and must frequent the facilities more often now, but my predilection for clean toilet seats hasn't abated, so I'll purchase some of these, before my next outing into the wild (or city). I wish I had some cleaners last night, at a bar (to hear music, only...we don't drink). I wasn't very happy 'til I got home....

Unfortunately I am an alive example. Got a fungus on my leg some years ago, most probably from a dirty toilet. :/ No std or pregnancy of course, but still, a fungus is not nice either. And that's why I don't want to touch.
