Teardrop stolen in Denver

Postby dvoisinet1615 » Tue Jun 26, 2018 5:13 pm

Long time lurker and first time post under unfortunate circumstances. My teardrop that I built last year was stolen this weekend from my driveway in the alley in Denver. It is a 4x8 built on a HF trailer with FRP siding and Colorado plate 557YZX. If you have any info regarding the theft please let me know. Thanks in advance.

One of the members of our camping group was in traffic and spotted a tiny just like his. Upon closer inspection it was his. He simply got on the phone and called the police and followed his trailer until the police caught up with him and followed the thief home. So there is hope !

How was it secured? Locks, chain, what was it secured with, so we can learn how it was taken.

It was secured with a shrouded Master lock designed for hitches. It would be difficult to cut with a bolt cutter so I'm not sure how it was removed. It has a factory door on the right side with a secure lock. I'm afraid if it is ever recovered there will be some heavy damage. Also, the entire theft was caught on my neighbor"s security cam but the video is pretty grainy and doesn't provide much detail other than it was a one man job and a general outline of the truck.

A long shot but if you can make up flyers with the picture of the truck you may find a neighbor that had work done by the guy.

Good deal! Hope the trailer wasn't damaged too much. Hope the thief gets jail time!

Those locks ate so easy to pick. Just watch you tube. A lock with a pin type key is better or a super heavy duty hitch cover lock. I sure hope you get the camper back soon.
