Has anyone ducted a window AC into their trailer?

Postby rebar » Sun Jul 15, 2018 11:31 am

Iv seen a few pictures of window shakers ducted into a trailer, but I'm not finding anyone on a forum who has done this.. I see the company climate right offers a portable unit which looks good. But the reviews aren't the best and it costs 3X more than a good Frigidaire window shaker..

I'm guessing the blower on the window shaker wasn't designed to push air through a round duct.. But has anyone here done this?

Thanks!

I did based on the HVAC hack thread above. I made a removal window insert for the duct connections.

My next step will be to make it so the inlet/outlet airstreams are more separated by either baffles, or just adding connections on opposite sides of the cabin.

Thanks Sparksalot.. Is it worth cutting holes in your tear drop just to get them separated? I would guess for such a small area your window insert is adequate.

The original controls were removed.A wireless remote thermostat was used. Also,a on/off delay timer was wired in the circuit to cycle the compressor

to prevent icing coil.It is set 6 minutes on/2 minutes off.The coil has never iced up.
