Dutch Oven Cake

Postby HMK » Mon Jul 30, 2018 9:51 pm

Hi Everyone, I wasn't sure where to put this, but wife says this is the best cake I've ever made, so I thought I'd share. I don't even know what to call it, so for now it's Dutch Oven Delight. This is done differently than most of my dump cakes, so here's the break down. This took 1 1/2 hours to bake. Low & slow.

White Cake Mix
3 bananas
1 1/2 cups coconut
1/12 cups chopped pecans
3 eggs
1/3 cup coconut oil (melted)
1 cup 7up
1 tub chocolate frosting

Mash bananas, add eggs stir good. Add oil and 7 up and stir good. Slowly add cake mix while stirring. Add coconut & pecans and stir well. Pour into Dutch Oven and bake at about 300 to 325 rotating every 15 minutes. This took me two sets of 13/6 charcoal and It was starting to test my patience, but it finally tested done throughout. Although take into account that it was extremely windy and I had no protection from the wind. Frost cake and put lid back own and continue baking for about 15 minutes.

It was simply amazing.
