Finished our teardrop

Checking in for 2019 .
We finally finished our teardrop. Since getting our (bare-bucks) teardrop years ago we've rebuilt the hatch , re-trimmed the outside , new heavier axle and larger tires but.... the inside was pretty bare, just a shelf no cabinets.
As most of you know if you have to hit the brakes .... All you stuff goes forward.
We needed more organization and so it began.
Turned the shelf into cabinets.
Restained the ceiling, installed a vent. Also new mattress and paint. Light, light grey.

The next phase was the galley. We decided to keep ours as gear storage.
There only was the one shelf.
Put in a new 1/2" subfloor since the thin floor had some water damage.
After thinking about what gear we had and where is was gonna go properly, I came up with this. Also got lucky enough to have room to put the porta potty.

While I was cutting wood I made a slide out shelf under the cabinets we can pull out if needed. It slides under far enough that we dont hit our knees .
One of the main objectives was to be more organized , so now that everything has its place. I made a check list to ensure we wont forget anything. It really helps.

Very nice...and as has been said, they're never done.

I like the permanently mounted checklist. The older I get, the fewer things I remember. I made a camping checklist once, but forgot where I stored. I think I'll copy your design and mount one in the teardrop (in an obvious location).

Modstock, the way you created the "door" for the kitchen cabinets is a nice touch

i like how you can stand stuff like lawn chairs... back there while traveling

gets stuff off the bed making it useful for quick overnights in a wally world parking lot w/o having to unload a bunch of stuff into the TV

i went back a couple times and still don't see how you hold the work surface level for serious kitchen duty

Thanks for the nice comments guy's.

The list is a must. The one time I didn't use it, I forgot something.
On the back side there's a list for locking up the house. Such as unplugging the garage door opener and turning off the water to the washer. Things I've seen go awry from other's during vacations.

The shelf/door in the hatch has a block that helps hold it up and two more on the sides. Just light duty like putting my camera gear or drone to work on
We have a fold up table we use for cooking to keep the grease from splattering all over.

We pulled off 2 trips in the late summer and love it. Set up and tear down of camp goes much quicker.


Every once in awhile it gets towed behind our old car to a carshow.
