Sub Flooring Camper Floor, Exposure 1

Postby Patrick Star » Tue Jan 15, 2019 10:24 am

I think I may of messed up on my build. I was after toungue and groove plywood when I initially did the flooring in my Caveman build. Anyways I noticed last night it is rated exposure 1, and not exterior. Should of just got the regular plywood.

Will this be a big problem? I live in south TX and while it is humid, as I live on the coast, it is also windy most of the time, plus I'll be camping on the beach most of the time.

I was thinking of getting a gallon of POR15 (Chassis Saver actually) to seal it up underneath and definitely around the edges, but was originally going to paint the underside/flooring egdes with an oil based enamel. Was also considering marine wood sealer too.

Anyways I was looking for thoughts on my botched flooring selection.

Here's a pic of the build so farImage

Well. A scrap from my flooring shows no signs of compromise after 24 hours in the coy pool

The bigger sheet of 1/4 has been in there about 2 weeks and looks great still. A bit heavy now, lolImage
