Camp Chair Storage

Postby WestcoastTD » Thu Jan 24, 2019 10:33 pm

Hello! Was wondering if anyone had any unique ways to store generic camp chairs? Kind of like the one's below? I'd like them to be stored on the Teardrop, although not inside it. Was at our local hardware shop and was thinking of a large PVC that spanned the width underneath the trailer, although 6" is a tad too small and they don't fit! Thanks for your help!

Locally, we have an outfit called "Ueco" that sells products geared toward utilities. They sell water meters, pressure reducers, etc. They also have a stock of large PVC pipes, even up toward 16". The fittings are sometimes o-ring and clamp, rather than glue, but if you have an outfit like that somewhere near you, they might be able to help you out.

We use a futon for a mattress so all our clean stuff gets thrown on top. I do like your idea of a large tube. I will caution to figure out a way to get the last chair out of the tube. It will be inside very far, too far to reach. I suggest a rope attached to the first chair so you can pull them all out with that or a hole to use a long stick to push the chairs out. The chairs may fit better in a made up square tube.

Now, I have to add how much I despise those uncomfortable bag chairs. We use directors chairs which are much more comfortable but difficult to store. (Throw 'em inside!)

just make sure the chairs will fit thru your chosen capping method orifice

not at all unlike RV sewer pipe storage ± ;-)

mine fits nicely inside the big "Blackstone" griddle bag I got on Amazon, thus storing inside the trailer on the bed works nice - last item packed, first item un-packed for a 'nice' sit-down after a 'long' drive (oh, forgot to mention - the bag cost more$$($36) than the chair did being I got it on sale)

Something else just came to mind. Sonotubes, AKA concrete forms. One might have to make their own cap or plug, but a fellow could easily weatherproof it with PMF.

If you have a large HVAC supply house near by they may have plastic duct pipe that is used to run duct under a concrete slab. we had it is sizes from 4" up to 20", it only had a wall thickness of 1/8"- 3/16". Probably a lot cheaper than the sewer or water main pipe.

We have some very comfortable ARB chairs with adjustable lumbar support. Everyone that tries them loves them. But they do not pack up small at all.

We use the galley as storage and keep them there.
Have a fold up table to cook on.
