Gas Strut (piston) measurement

Postby greenchicken » Thu Apr 04, 2019 8:26 pm

HI all.

TD almost done. Waiting for complete success before posting any pictures....

But I have a question. I want to add gas struts for the galley hatch.

Can anyone help me with how to determine the size/type I should order?

I used my old gas struts from a Jeep Cherokee and took measurements from it. I think it was 5-1/2" below the pivot point. Length didn't matter, I just raised the hatch where I wanted it and screwed it on. Still used a camera inside to check clearance.

Got it... thanks for the help spreadsheet and drawings.

So I need 28" extended to lift 50lbs.

two struts of course,.

Does that mean I buy 50lb struts or 25lb struts?

If you inputted two struts and it spit out 50 lbs, then you need two 50 pounders.
