Tv,s - Stereo Setup in your Builds

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

I plan on "installing" just a speaker system--inexpensive powered computer speakers with the subwoofer.

With that, we can plug in the iPod, satellite radio, the laptop, or one of my kids' two portable DVD players. (Walmart--70 bucks.)

I don't care about getting broadcast television, and if you've ever seen South Florida's broadcast television, you wouldn't care either.

Just gonna put whatever we use on a shelf--when we use it. Nothing permanently installed except the speakers.

Although we'll be using a standard small TV, I will wire in the coax for front and back connections to the antenna and cable lead in so we can put the TV on the galley counter for watching from the couch, and on the back shelf for watching while in bed. Later, If I add a small 12V unit, it will be wired for it.

Heikki,
here is my set up it is a CD/TV/DVD/AM/FM head unit and an 8" monitor. takes up very little space and was pretty cheap. The brand is pyle and I got them at e-tronics.com. I hope this helps.

I think maybe Id like to put 2 permanent speakers in the cabinet...
Nothing real expensive.. but nothing to sounding like "2 sick mice" as was mentioned..

But the small flat screen monitor tv - LCD - but with a system that it can be removed ...

I remember many years ago some very nice sounding speakers for cars were available there in the States named Jensens... Are they still available
anywhere...? I really like the sounds of them.. Guess they were 6 x 9,s
if I remember correctly..Many of the folks there really gave great points
for them..

Both my wife and I really enjoy Blues, Some Southern Rock and Bluegrass.. Eagles.. so it has to have some decent sounding speakers in our opinion.. And for watching some good videos...

Wife dont want to spend a whole lot since she is correct in her view and concern if someone breaks in and steals it. Which of course can be true.

The Radio/Cd player we have is one where the system is installed with
a rack that can be totally removed or the face plate removed for security.
Which Im sure is popular in the States as well ...

I went out and got some nice cabinet ply .. So I can make the front face
for the cabinets...and cutout for the Speakers...

if anyone knows about the Jensens please let me know...

Best wishes
Classic Finn

Ira thats also what I had in mind at one point.. I have an extra Logitec
set of speakers - 1 subwoofer and 2 satellite speakers that cost about the same.. I use it onboard ship in my cabin hooked up to my Labtop..
Movies, Music and such really sounds quite nice .. and its not so high powered that it blows out your ears...compact and easy to carry...

Jensen is a top-rated speaker company, but nowadays, I'm sure there are a lot of comparable brands, or NON-brands from China that are just as good.

And here's another factor for some people to consider:

I'm not yet 100% confident in the water-tightness of my TD, although so far, all seems good. But this is someting to think about if you have similar low confidence as me…that you don't wnat to permanently install expensive electronics unless you're SURE.

Also for moderately priced speakers. If they get wet once, they're garbage.

Ira
I tend to agree with you on that... I most likely will worry about it also but ...have to test it out before adding these things.. Yikes...Ohh well.

find out when the time comes....
