Small, light ladder to reach rooftop solar on TD

Postby TimC » Mon Sep 16, 2019 1:10 pm

I'm searching for a small step stool or ladder to reach the solar panels on top of my teardrop. I have a small two foot step ladder but it's kind of heavy and awkward to store on the road. I'm hoping someone has a idea for a small, light, easily packable unit. I am handy with wood, so, maybe a build it yourself option would work. I thought of a simple ladder similar to an extension ladder without the extension option. Lean the top portion against the td wall and climb up two or three steps. I could easily build a storage spot under the floor as I have 2' centers on the trailer frame. It could accommodate a ladder about 54" long and 21" wide.

Walmart and Costco carry the Cosco brand ladders that are lightweight, fold flat and have large steps with a handle to hang onto. I just bought another 2 step ladder ( $11.34) to get in and out of the bed of my pick up truck.

Look for 3 step ladder with safety rail. Lots out there. You can stand on the top step - about 30" off the ground -- like standing on a counter or desk. Got one at a dollar store for $10.
Good new ones ( 300 lb weight, wide step, fiberglass frame ) run around $50-80.
