Depends a little bit on your floor. Mine overhangs two feet but I have a built up floor of 1x3 solid wood frame covered with 1/4" ply, both sides, glued and screwed.
If you are using just sheet ply I would limit that to a foot. Make sure you wrap the canvas down the sides and under the floor for a few inches. The canvas is what ties the floor to the walls.
