The Machine came from the country but there were rats in the barn. Thats were 5 totes of leather, 4 heids and more came from, They didn't like this stuff and I hope I didn't transport any :worship: but I did bring a miniature Jack (Rat) Terrier as part of the package & proven ineffective.
She has many names and comes to none; Just before seasoning the second side after a bath.

Welding again...

Postby noseoil » Fri Oct 16, 2020 7:13 am

I'm still enjoying working with steel. Made a couple of shelves for the kitchen as we needed a bit more room in the old house we got in Raton. Pots & pans are easier to get to now & a small spice rack over the stove makes things simple to for cooking.

Also, working on a new smoker for outdoor cooking. It's just a 55 gallon drum, cut in half & being used for the oven. I still need to make a fire box to hang on the side, but yesterday was a good day for work. Little by little it's moving along. Will post a finished picture once it's cooking & pumping out the BBQ. Looking forward to the first batch of ribs, a brisket & maybe some chicken. Big enough to cook a turkey or two!

Took a 4 hour cruise on the Blue Ridge Parkway around Mt Mitchell in North Carolina yesterday.
Started out as a beautiful, sunny day, but clouded up a bit by early afternoon. Still a bit early for the fall colors, but after dropping below freezing last night it should be better next week.

A little more work on the grill... Here's the lower grill for smoking, will take big stuff like turkeys & large roasts.

With the upper grill. it just sits on top of the lower, grill to give a bit more room if needed.

New one to me, but it looks like it should run well enough. Might have to have a separate burn barrel on the side somewhere, to make the coals so the meat doesn't get too much smoke. Looks like it will be a good smoker.

Well... Last may I ordered a torsion axle from Dexter for the new teardrop build.

It showed up and didn't look right. They'd shipped one with a 78" hub face instead of the 74" I ordered. I was not happy. Neither was their rep. He prioritized the replacement and I had the new one within 10 days.

When it arrived, I measure it and gave it the thumbs.

And then I called the guy up. "How do I get the wrong axle back to you?" There was a long pause and then he said, "I'll call you and let you know."

And of course, he never did. So I glued this up today for a new utility trailer.

Just a utility trailer, 5 x 9'. We've got one but it's a junker.

Free axle? What's a guy to do?

That's a great looking smoker setup you have cooking.
