Build #3?

Postby bdosborn » Wed Sep 23, 2020 6:28 pm

Noodling on some layouts for a new build. I found some low resolution images of a build online and started laying things out to scale using Bluebeam.

I'm not very serious yet, still playing around with layouts. Having the ebikes in a garage is the driving design requirement.

If i ever did a "van" conversion I would buy a bus like this and do it right.

here is one for sale

here is better one, it has the wheel chair lift, could used as a side load toy hauler.

Ha! Maybe so. The wife says we should go look at commercial RVs for ideas so I've got approval from management.

Ha, I've always been good at carrying on. I'm doing my research now, trying to figure out what vehicle to get. So far I like the Ford Transit Extended Cargo van space but I don't like the how long the overhang is. This guy has my hands down favorite build:

Bruce,

That would be a cool project. As some of us get more wisdom - sounds better than getting grayer, balder, or fatter - camping "amenities" are almost becoming camping "needs."

We haul our Trek hybrid bikes on camping trips and I've always been a little paranoid about leaving them at the campsite when hiking or going into town. Lately, we've been looking at e-bikes. They would be a sizable investment and my paranoia would be off the charts to leave them outside. I would have to have a way to garage them or get them inside. I've seen some folding travel e-bikes that we could put in the camper, but I'm not sure I want that hassle. Your solution does seem like a good idea.

Take care,
Tom

Yeah, that's the other thing that's a big design driver - gotta have a bathroom. Ten years ago I would have none of it.

You can build an e-bike with a DIY kit very easily. We had a couple of bikes hanging in the garage so I bought kits and converted them. I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Bafang Mid Drive

Its a bad time to buy ebikes, all the supply chains went down with the pandemic and demand went through the roof.
