Need something 3d printed UV stable

Postby saltydawg » Sun Nov 01, 2020 9:06 pm

Does anyone here do 3d printing with uv stable filaments?

I am using a small led light as exterior lights, they measure about 1 inch by 3 inches and I am using 4 of them. I want to put them at about a 30 degree down angle so they light the ground more than just aim outward. They come with a gasket I can take pics of, or even mail it so the shape and size would be correct.

I am willing to pay.

Scott:

I 3D print but I'm not the guy. So far just PLA filament.

The bigger challenge –-I think-- would be designing the STL file. Got a pic?

These are the lights. I want to aim them down at a 30 to 45 degree angle. If I cant get something printed I will probably just get a 1x1 delrin or other plastic and cut it diagonal and sand them to shape. A 1 foot piece would give me more than enough to mess a few up.

I think your stock part would be fairly easy to duplicate in Sketchup. But adding the desired angle would be perplexing.

I’m sure it’s doable but it’s over my CAD skills.

I have a 3D printer. The problems I see on a long part is separation in the layers from expansion/ contraction after the parts are made and cooling. The parts I made were a little longer than that buy a few inches. I ended up going to a commercial printer company to have mine made. The company used a resin printer. That uses a liquid bath and a laser to set the part. Much better print quality than the normal 3D printer using a stranded filament. The price was reasonable.
