This do-able? Ctxt

I was thinking of building a Kuffel Creek Comet on a 1175# Harbour Freight trailer. Not having seen the plans for the Comet would this work?

I don't have the $$ to get the 1800# trailer and "IF" I can use the 1175# one it'd help alot. I do plan on welding it together and maybe adding another frame brace, and lengthing the frame 6-8" on either end. It will remain 4' wide though, don't care to worry about the wheelwell thing. Big hassle if a tire blows!

Eric,
You want the total finished weight and the weight of all your "stuff" to be under the weight limits of the frame, say 10 to 20%. So when you hit a dip or bump in the road the inertia plus the weight will not be more than the frame can stand.

You would not need to put the wheels inside on a 5 footer, but larger than that most people do.

Good Luck

Frank
Let's go camping!
