Anyone going camping this weekend??

Postby beverlyt » Tue Aug 31, 2004 8:11 pm

We're heading out to a friends 80 acres to do some rustic camping this weekend. It's just a 1/2 hour drive from our house and will meet them there.
The guys will spend some time in the woods in preparation for the hunting season coming up.

It's suppose to thunderstorm Saturday night. Guess I'll find out how that hinge works for sure then!

Hi there BeverlyT,

Yep--I'm headin' for the woods myself. My wife is a teacher and she's back at school so I'll be doing a solo trip up to Temperence River on the North Shore of Lake Superior. 250 miles each way. Meetin' up there with other bike/kayak club members for a weekend of hiking on the Superior Hiking Trail. Saturday night I'll be throwing a christening party for POD, my tiny trailer. It's a tradition in the club that anytime a member shows up with a new rig, they have to host a party for the other members.

I've been busy this week putting Formica on the countertop, getting a sleeping platform built, buying a new mattress, stitchin' up an awning for the curb side, and half a dozen other little chores to get ready for the trip.

Tomorrow it's off to the store to start stocking up on food and beverages. Have to get some tent poles for the awning, start packing, and be ready to go early Friday morning.

Here's hoping it doesn't rain on you folks and that your new hinge works out just fine for you. I set mine up with overhang just like your's and it works great--drains the water right off the end.

Have a great campout!
The tiny trailer in the avatar is designed to carry our recumbents and sometimes sleep in. We LOVE having a kitchen in the woods and a place for most of our gear.

Going back to the Adirondacks (upstate NY) this weekend. First awesome weekend for weather this summer (at least when we are going).

Going for 4 days bringing our total to 32 nights this summer in our 'Snoozer'. Should be celebrating 100 nights in our tear next year!

Chip,
Sounds like you'd better start thinking about what you want that artist to put on that there trailer of yours!

Yes, it is also christening for my new Eddie Bauer (hunter) teardrop. We are heading up to Wisconsin to a full service campsite, mostly because I want to figure out what is necessary, what isn't and what I still need to get to complete the outfit. I wanted to go full service campground so I didn't have think too much about the external factors of camping this way, and could just focus on "shaking down the rig".
Plan on a couple of daytrips to Port Washington and catching a college football game or 2 at a sports pub.
