I really like the sizes and material, but I don't see a design that will work for me here. Where else can you find this kind of stuff?

I have never seen any ocean themes and definitely no crabs. ;) Most are non-specific designs but occasionally you will see a rose pattern.

I'm reviving this old thread because I'm going to buy an outdoor rug, but the one I see seems a bit pricey for the 5x8 model:

Anyone have a favorite that's easy to clean/hose off?

I bought a 5x7 from Bed, Bath and Beyond for $29.95 that looks just like that one. Lightweight, easy to store. I agree this one is more expensive.

How do you store & transport the rug without getting the tear dirty?

outdoor rugs

Postby Verna » Tue Oct 21, 2014 8:40 am

I put it in the tow vehicle. If it's wet, I put it in one of those XXL Ziplock bags, but I don't seal it--I let it air out during the day. It's small enough when rolled up, that I could ratchet strap it to the tongue box. Most of the time, I use the rug in the 5x7 screen room, so it doesn't get that wet. These rugs are made from recycled milk jugs and water bottles, so they can take a lot of abuse. If it gets dirty, I just use spring clamps to clamp it to the privacy fence, spray some Simple Green on it and then hose it down until the water runs clear. Let it dry, roll it up and it's ready for the next trip.

On my last trip to Houston I went to Galveston Island and went to wallmart and bought 2 3x6 sunbathing mats for 6.00 each/I wish now that I had three. You could probably get them in the spring at one of the southern beach areas.

Agree with others. That price is quite steep. There are many places to find these. Mine came from a vendor at a dog show. Though it is small, 5'x7', I find it quite convenient as it folds to form a small pack with carry handles and two pockets. That helps to contain any dirt that clings to it after shaking it out. If it's quite dirty it can easily be slipped into a trash bag. Put a couple together & tack them down with ground staples and you've got a 10'x7' area for $35.

This is an example, though not the vendor:

Here is another version with free shipping:

Here are a few other options:
4'x7' - $17 - http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fusea ... entCat=339
6'x8' - $30 - http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fusea ... entCat=339
9'x9' - $37 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/291272489529

Tons more are out there.

. We have three mad mats and we love them. They are pricy, but well worth it. The water from a rain drains right through, so they dry quickly and you are never standing in water. As for transport, i make bags that they are rolled up and put in. Get some waterproof material like for jackets and backpacks from an outlet store and make a simple bag with the waterproof side in.

I gave up on rugs under the EZ-up over the galley and just used my 2 door mats under the tear drop doors. Less mess, less work and they fit in a kitchen trash bag after I shake them out. 8)
