Mr. Heater

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

I have this exact same heater.
Used it one time in our trailer and found 2 problems with it.
1 was even on low it still puts out way to much heat than we needed,
and # 2 was when it is running the bottle sweats a lot more than I thought
it would ( had a puddle of water real quick).
If you do decide to use it be careful of your clearance above the heater.
I had a cabinet door to hot for my comfort.

cold weather camping, with my modification build with my 2019 Runaway Range Runner a heating source was on my mind plus I wanted it portable & safe. I done a ton of research on heaters, one thing was apparent I wanted a actually thermostatic controlled heat system. The Chinese Diesel Heater was out of the question, for one a lot of complaints that were on facebook groups in the offroad trailer communities having troubles with them. Another is they are noisy, another reason why I didn't choose this heating system was I would have to carry another source of fuel.

AT Overland has a portable 12v. & propane forced air furance system that is extremely safe, the electronics constantly monitors the operation of the heater to make sure everything is operating perfectly: the flame, case temperature, combustion airflow, gas solenoid valve & voltage are scanned continuously. This heating system is a low pressure & will run as low as 10 amps on the battery. If a problem is detected the heater, the system will instantly switch off & the red light on the thermostat will flash in code to let you know there is an issue. The solid-state electronic thermostat automatically switches the unit on & off (on demand) to maintain the desired interior temperature, when the temperature drops below the selected temperature in the cabin, the Proplex HS2000 furance will automatically ignite & run until the cabin reaches the selected temperature. This heating system I have (AT Overland) is low draw 12v. power consumption 1.4 amps per hour, low propane use consumption which for me it burns 5lbs of propane in 86hrs of use. The bad thing about this heating system is "the price", expeinsive if you want it portable, now stantionary the price is a lot less (over 1\2 the price) & is a simple install. Overall this sytem is well worth the cost whether you want it portable or peramently installed.

I know of a few who will use UCO Candlelier candle lantern to heat the cabin area up & will sleep with it lit. IMO that is insane. The problem with MR. Buddy Heaters IMO is many use them to warm up the cabin before they go to bed & when they 1st wake up. Being a non thermostat controlled heater it has a low & high setting only, plus the propane consumption is high on these heaters. The whole purpose of having heat for cold weather camping is having continuous monitored controlled safe heat all night long.

We do own & use a Mr. Buddy Heater to heat our awning room only.

I'm aware of this thread being old as it is. Any information that is added to any thread whether new or old would be helpful to any one in search.
