Madjack....I really like the sanitary look of your galley and closet portion. I just went for it on mine and now I can see what could have been done if I took my time and thought things out. I didn't plan on AC however. How are you going to support the galley lid? It is hard to tell from the photos, but I know that I had a hard time trying to use a gas shock. My upper shelf made it unusable, at least to get the height that I wanted on the deck lid. I was extra smart so put the shelf close to the deck lid. Now I need to take the shocks back and cash them in... I also had a big lid that was going to need plenty of support. I think that the gas shocks almost needed to be through bolted to get the support for them....Looks great!!!! Doug Hodder

...thanks for the KUDOS everyone, especially Woody and Doug, since I have seen your work. Up in the shop, my build partner and I have a bunch of stuff labeled "burn pile" as we built, took apart and rebuilt the galley, we atill aren't that happy with it but it's what we have on this build. The dropped area to the right of main shelf is for a themo-electric ref. and sink. Still alot of work to get the lower galley area like we want it.
Doug, as to supports, I asume you meant the galley hatch when opened since no spars are installed yet. We plan on using gas shocks if we can fit them in, my partner wants to go with 2 60/80#s I want a couple of 120's, since we have a very large hatch. I guess it will depend on who orders them

Madjack....I gotta level with you. screwing with the gas shocks is what messed up my back. I didn't have any help other than the dog and she was just worthless, kept bringing me the frisbee when I asked for a tool. I opted for support sticks, at least for Minden. That's what my original 49 Kit had so I decided that would be fine.... I had 2 60#ers, but found out that my top shelf was in the way....My suggestion would be to really think it out and test prior to shooting any screws into the sides or you will have to doctor them like me....My big lesson for the next one....Take care and keep up the great work!!!! Guys like you inspire me to do better.!!!... doug hodder

Madjack,
When I built my teardrop and installed the A/C. I found that it ran warm to hot. It wasn't breathing well on the heat exchange side of the unit. To make it run cooler I installed a secondary blower , boxed in the hot exhuast side (back of the unit) added some minimal duct work to help pass out the heat to the outside of the trailer. Then I had a thought, Yes I made the connection, I drilled one hole 2 5/8" in diameter in the galley bulkhead allowing air from the cabin to be mixed in with outside air sucked into the A/C cooling air intake vents on the side of the A/C . Exchanging the air in the cabin, but also allowed the A/C to run a little longer and dehumidy the cabin air. Eliminating the need of a roof vent fan (and the hole in the roof) to ventilate the cabin air while cooling the cabin down.

...Woody, our problem was that an 8' tear is, well...short, leaving very little room for extra ducting. Our solution was similar to the Camp-Inn, a roofvent split to accommodate both intake and exhaust air. The sides of the AC box are extremely close to the AC and there is not adequate room for proper intake air...so we cut out top of AC unit to admit intake air and use a diffuser to split the vent for intake/exhaust air. Only time will tell if this works as planed

Madjack,
Yea I see your point, I was going to build an 8', but ended up at 10'. The A/C goobled up to much space since the only place for it was the floor of the center galley cabinet. I was going to mount it higher, but the microwave was slated for that spot as per a changed of plan since I got it for free during the beginning of the galley design. The extra 2' did allow for a closet to hang jackets and a small bookshelf in the front of the cabin.

Chupacabra
