That's a pretty slick idea.

I got to looking at the framing, and I'm going to change it up a bit tomorrow.

The plan is to cut the new framing, paint the bottom, and get the sides cut out. I'm hoping to have the sides and roof on Monday.

Here are the plans/drawings. I'm going to post these as I go.

The "2x4" notched is for the butt joint for the two pieces of plywood.

I've got the camper floor upside down and painting the road side face. I'll put on 2 coats, and then flip it rightside up and mount it to the trailer. I'm currently working on the sides.

I'll update the weight of the camper as I go.

The trailer has been shortened by 12" and the fenders removed. The trailer weighs 182 pounds.

The floor weighs 76 pounds.

Total To Date: 258 pounds.

Having one of those type of trailers, I would suggest either getting the tongue reinforced with an "A" type of arangement, or else make sure the second cross member has something in the floor to bolt to. Stacking a second piece of angle iron on it wouldn't hurt either. Otherwise you will probably find that it bends. That was discussed here in detail:

Donutboy - Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look at it and see what needs to be done. Interesting that someone said one was bent by standing on it.

DaveandDebbie - I hope I have as much fun with this build as my other builds. I hope you're doing well.

It's coming together. I got the sides cut out and mounted. I really like the profile of this build. :D

I have the door cut too.

I'm going to install a few more spars tonight and cut the fender holes. I should have the roof installed tomorrow and I'll start on the epoxy.

Total To Date: 397 pounds

I have 4 more panels to place on the roof. Each panel (1/4" x 48" x 64.5") weighs 20.5 pounds. Shouldn't have any problems keeping it under 700 pounds.

Edit: Oops - I meant 1/4" not 1/8" for the roof.

I'm about to cut the butt joint section blocking the door and begin framing the door. I'm also going to mix some epoxy and make some epoxy fillets for the roof/wall joints and roof/floor joints.

I'm really happy with the profile.
