Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hi Folks,

Looking ahead, still thinking how to finish the trailer. Paint is still a possibility.

Facts: All told, the trailer is approx 200 sq ft to cover, regardless of what you cover with (its a 5x10x4)

Aliphatic 255 paint (epoxy urethane) is $87 (!) a gallon--I would need about 3 1/2-4 gallons

I some people have referred to a paint called Ultra Bright (? or something like that) which I am not familiar with and would like to get more info about. If anyone could tell me where to go to find that I would appreciate that.

Some people have had auto body paint shops do their trailers--I would like to hear their advice and info about costs with that...

Here's another product, it's UV stabilized and comes in rough or smooth finishes.

It's a little more expensive then the Aliphatic 255, but looking at the different applications it's been used on it looks to be bullit proof.

The price list is on the right hand side marked "prices and colors"

I think you may be out of line on your paint coverage numbers...seems like wayyyy too much...Doug

Jim, that may be superior product but seems awfull pricey...a number of folks have used Petit Easypoxy http://www.pettitpaint.com/catalog_browse.asp?ictNbr=45 which is a one part urethane paint used for topcoatings in marine applications and should work well over your prefinished wood...it also covers 600sqft/gal....checkout the link and see what you think....

kayakrguy... Holy Cow! How thick are you going to put that stuff on? Most automotive paints will cover 200 - 250 sq. ft. per gallon or even more... over a well sealed primered surface (and that's putting on 2 coats). Just wondering?

You could just seal the whole thing with epoxy, then paint it with good automotive paint...

Doug, my figures for Alistuff paint coverge came off their site--it was 100 sq ft /gal and recommends two coats....maybe I misread it or misremembered it?

I have already sealed the walls with epoxy will do the same with the roof once its on...

Jim...maybe it was for raw unfinished material...but since you have it sealed off with epoxy now and aren't going to get any top coat penetration into the wood, I would think the coverage would be a lot more...however I'm unfamiliar with the product...Doug
