Roof Framing

On a 4'wide tear with 1/4" plywood top 1x2 framing and 1/8" paneling could you turn the 1x2 on their side ? And make the roof 1/4"-3/4"-1/8" instead of 1/4"- 1 1/2"-1/8" ? It would save 3/4" headroon an make the framing simple.

I would be worried about the roof sagging over time and flexing with wind load when pulling it down the road at high speed on the interstate. The other thing to consider is wire pulling, it would be difficult to drill holes for wire and still maintain the woods integrity for strength. You could not use conduit to chase wires so more could added later. Just my input

That's what I did with the squared Weekender (I turned the 1x2s on their side), and I believe that's also how Rik did his roof panels... or was that Joseph...? Too many tears to remember! I'll have to go and look at Rik's site again. Rik did say his roof was strong enough to stand on...
