5 ft. wide aluminum

Postby lee » Thu Oct 21, 2004 4:47 pm

Needing help again! Do anyone know a place in Georgia where we might be able to get 5 ft. wide alluminum? We live near Valdosta, but are willing to travel some miles if we can find the aluminum. When we finish this project, My husband and I can't say we build this Tear Drop. We have to say--- we with the help of all on the forum that help us out so many times. Thanks again. Lee

Lee, Give these folks a call Aluma Panel Moultrie 866-608-9746
I bought my Al from there SC location and it carried 5" sheets. I don't think Moultrie is vey far from Valdosta. Let us know if that works out.
Good luck,
Clancy

Try http://www.easternmetal.com They have a Charlotte, NC location. They run weekly trucks in Texas 300 miles or so out of their Houston location for $250 min order, which is not much when you are talking aluminum. So they may run weekly near you. They also carry many very cool extrustions, trailer, marine parts, etc. A recent price quote: 5'x12'x.063" 5052 = $99.75ea. D. Tillery

Has anyone used the .063 panels, was wondering how easy it is to bend. I can get it from Eastern metal out of houston, free delivery. And is the 5052 the prefered alloy?[/b]

Eastern Metal is great. They run a truck to SA every monday. The .063 or >16 GA steel thickness equivalent is about as thick as you can bend to a teardrop radius without putting it through a roller (if you have some help handling it!). I would suggest going to a supplier in LA to look and put your hands on some samples just to be sure then order it from Eastern. The 5052 alloy is what has been recommended to me as the best economical choice for covering trailers. Hope that jelps, just my opinion, D. Tillery
