HF 1175 assembly manual

Was just on the HF site and saw the downloadable manual for the 1175 lb trailer. Never noticed it before....but of course there's hardly a day that goes by that I notice things I hadn't noticed before that everyone else on the planet noticed long ago. May have been there all along. It does answer a lot of my questions about the trailer. Says 4 bolt wheels and weight 266 lbs. The website ad puts the weight at 287 lbs. There are some dimensions so some of you might be interested if you haven't already found this. Also overnight the cost went from 219 bucks to 229.

That seems strange.. I think the 1,800 trailer is lighter.

Seems strange to me too. The 1800# trailer according to HF is 242 lbs. It has larger tires, thicker and beefier tongue rails and a thicker axle. The 1175# trailer does have the extra weight of the cross member on the toungue, casters and caster mechanism but has lighter tires, lighter tongue and lighter axle. Except for the tongue cross member they both have the same number of frame pieces, rails and crossmembers. It doesn't seem to add up. The 5.3x12 tire and wheel weighs 21 lbs and the 4.8x12 tire and wheel weighs 18 lbs. (I checked the labels on them at HF store) Between the two thats a difference of 6 lbs. The 3/8 inch return on the U channel of the tongue on the 1800# may not make a lot of difference in weight but I bet it is a least 3 lbs. So that would make the 1175# trailer 9 lbs lighter right off. The difference in axle weight would be hard to figure but what the hell, figure 5 lbs difference. That gets us up to about 14 lbs lighter for the 1175#. The 1800# trailer weight 242 minus the 14 lbs =228 lbs for the 1175#. Now add the weight of the tongue cross member on the 1175. Who knows but guessing say 7 lbs. That would make the weight of the 1175 come in about 235 lbs. The 1175 published weight is 266 minus the 235 lbs that it should weigh before adding the casters and fold up mechanism gives us a weight of 31 lbs for the casters, fold up hinges, nuts and bolts and caster supporting metal. 31 lbs seems to be a little more than the weight that those parts probably weigh. But no matter, it would seem that if you eliminate the casters and fold up mechanism you should have a 235 lb or so trailer which seems in the ball park camparing it to the weight of the 1800# at 242 lbs. Guess I'll eventually find out for sure.

Did just notice according to the manuals on both these trailers the 1175# is 1 3/4 inches longer. Must be tongue length. Could be that it is mounted farther forward than the 1800# for some reason as the beds are the same. Don't know if this would contribute any significant difference in weight.
