Mosquito Screen On Doors

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby rbeemer » Wed May 02, 2007 1:42 pm

Cary,

you should not have given Heilli the the easy answer, it is fun to here him rant about this stuff and tease him at the same time

Make sure you put a little EU approval sticker on them just incase they ask, we would not want Heikki to get into trouble.

Heikki, how did the cabinet doors come out...inquiring minds want to know and of course we will require pictures..ya know how Auntie, MJ and MK get if they do not get their fix.

PS may have to drain the aquarium, huge algae outbreak

Heikki,

The screens has a cord sewn in that fits into that channel. Pretty different way to do it actually. Since your doors are based on our door shape they will work. There is a knot that can be untied and adjusted if yours are a bit off from ours some.

They are $175 for a pair.

Ive been working on the hatch just yesterday.. I laminated the 2nd layer of 1.5 mm ply onto the 1st layer and it came out real nice..

But the doors look good... with the Moose facing one another..Laser engraved..stained the moose with a mahogany colored stain..

Yup the mosquito are even EU Approved so have to have an Eu Approved
Screen otherwise it wont work..   I,ll get some photos up here shortly but not  till all is installed..

PS Ive got algae outbreak in my tanks as well, I cut the lighting length down to 2 hrs per day now till its gone..

The only thing that I'm still up in the air about is, should I use regular screen or a "No-See-Em" netting?

Mosquito NEt on Doors

Postby Todah Tear » Mon May 07, 2007 2:42 pm

Classic Finn,

I made a mosquito net cover for my galley opening. I used sticky back velcro and gorilla glue to mount the hook part of the velcro. By the way, Handcock Fabrics is closing many of their stores. They have roles of Velcro that are upto 40% off!

I can't remember if I have posted this link or not, but here it is again. It is for Garage door screens. We bought one for our house and love it. They can make any size. I was also thinking of a screen for the camper door, and one for the 4th side of my Easy-up, since it has 3 solid sides already. These guys aren't cheap, but they are extremely high quality, with zippers on each side , as is the case with the garage door unit.

Classic Finn,

Here is the link for the place where I ordered my mosquito mesh. It was in another post somewhere on this forum.

I used duct tape as a liner for my screen because it was quick, but I intend to go back and redue the lining with cloth material.

http://www.seattlefabrics.com/mesh.html#No-See-UM%20Mosquito%20Netting

The price is very reasonable. Just order yourself a few feet.

Skeeter Screen

Postby dreadcptflint » Sun Aug 17, 2008 6:06 pm

We wanted a little more air flow but didn't like the idea of the skeeter's carrying away our little dude. The screen material is tulle it was less than $2 a yard. We recycled our curtain rods and added some sticky magnets. This is what we got:

Hopefully, we will be able to give it a test run next weekend. 8)

Nice job Barb!

One suggestion for those doing it this way is to put your curtains on the inside of your tear instead of on the door. We hung the curtain rod over the door frame and extended it so the curtains can be out of the way when not needed, but slid over the screen door for those privacy issues.
