I haven't been around here for long enough yet to know if you have a resources section or if this is even the right section to ask, but, what the hey.

I'm in the process of making my awning and need some vinyl beaded welt for the channel.

I know I have a few places bookmarked but right now I can only find one of them. "Rochford". Well Rochford only sells one size and they don't even tell you what size that is and on top of that they want almost as much for shipping as they do for 20' of product, sooo....

Does anyone have a good link (or two) to purchase welt from on line?

Thank you in advance,
J.C.

You could go to local upholstery shop, maybe one who specializes in awning repairs or auto and boat work and if they don't have something in stock, the probably could make something up for you...

I made mine out of an old RV awning. Just went to a local RV joint and asked if they had any old fabric they were throwing away.

The thing was practically new. The guy there said that people are always breaking these things and that they are always throwing the stuff out. Mine was a 20' piece with a ripped end...I only needed 8'.

Yup, I'm aware of that Finn.

But I was hoping the site that you got the picture from was a U.S. buisiness. Oh well, Thanks just the same.

Sorry my friend.. I know of a few others that are looking for the same product..

Its about 4USD per meter.. lil over 3 feet..If you need help in getting it I am willing to help..

I havent seen anyone yet there in the States tell that they have found such there but Im sure a nylon cord sewn into that fabric would possibly work also..

Just another idea...also as was already mentioned, you might check around with a local upholstery place to see if they have the piping alone in different thickness... and sew it into the fabric.

Best regards
Classic Finn ;)

Finn,

That welt you show really looks like nice stuff and it also seems like I have seen it somewhere while I have been surfing around. Maybe I'll be able to sort out my bookmarks and find what i'm looking for.

To describe further; My upholsterer is going to make the awning for me and when I suggested that I would supply him with the right sized rope to hem into the edge, he requested that try to find some of the pre-made welt, but offered no idea where to find it.
