Exterior Trim Pics - Added Rain Diverter

Postby Mary K » Tue Jul 10, 2007 10:41 pm

Hello folks!

I have added more trim...
Image

Madjack! This is 5/8" overhang on the hatch hinge trim. Is this good??? That is beyond the side trim hanging over the side.??
Image

And MadJack, I didn't quite understand what you ment about the diverter. Here is where I am. Dont know if it is the right way to do it, but thats what I did.
Image
You were saying I need a piece of wood / diverter where?? Sorry, I am a little thick on this. I mean, I see where water can get in there...did I make a mistake on cutting that angle on the left?? :?

Anyone have suggestions...pictures....anyone care for a mint?

Mary, your trim is looking finntastic.
You have done just an amazing job. :applause: :applause:

This is the best picture of a rain diverter I have come across, unfortunately I don't remember whose picture it is to give credit to. If anyone knows please speak up, as it looks absolutely great.

When I saw this picture it made it clear too me, so hopefully it will for you too.

MK, take a piece of your trim. bevel it on the belt sander and attach on the body side, right up under the hinge trim...this will help divert blowing rain wihile driving...also, take some basic hardwarestore weatherstipping and use it to seal the hinge opening......

Looking very pro there, MaryK.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.
