Need Hatch lock With Locking Rods Pictures

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby Classic Finn » Sun Aug 19, 2007 2:12 pm

I went out and took a couple of pics of the handle coming in thru the light holes.. but the handle is flush against the side of the outer wall or skin..

Here are a couple of pics..If I bring the latch and T - Handle above the lights it may work before the radius starts again..

Heikki:

To follow uP with the suggested center lock idea:
(Providing your hatch is firm and strong without much slop)

Using your twist lock with a strong
foundation in the middle of the
hatch bottom with an "L" bracket or a

This could be a solution.
The weight of your hatch should hold it down.
The lock if the trailer is square and not loose
could hold with a center lock mechanism.

I didn't use lock rods, I took the easy way out. I simply installed 2 draw latchs on bottom of the hatch. The one thing I like about it is, you can check that the hatch is latched just by looking. The other thing I like is that it was easy to install. One drawback was locking the hatch, that was fixed by installing a hasp. If I had known that htey existed, I would have used locking draw latches instead.

Heikki, I honestly don't know... When I was in Madison to visit my nephew, I rented a car to go up and visit him.. While I was there, I bought door handles, the hatch lock, and a battery tender... i was digging into the bottom of my pockets to get enough money... If I remember correctly, he even took some Canadian money because I didn't have enough American.... . The car rental was about $150.00 U.S. ( They saw me coming..) and the price for the hatch lock was on top of that...so... your guess is as good as mine...

Since I couldn't find it in Canada, I figure the price was worth it.....

Heikki ...
Some people have used the type above to hold down the hatch.

I really think the T handle center swing pull tight lock mech would do you fine.
Cause your build and hatch are tight and solid.

EXACTLY!

I'll be honest, I was going to do rods but I got frustrated with it. I have a T-handle and the latch mechanism sitting in a box out in the garage somewhere. My completion deadline was looming so I had to come up with something quick, the latches is what I came up with.

Ok folks I contacted the Finnish Reps for the Weston products as Andrew mentioned..

They have the locks there.. at 28 Euro..not too bad of a price.. ;)
In addition to that I found hinges again by Centaflex or was it Centerflex.
In addition gas shocks and some al. profiles..

Im going over to check what they have and what they look like..

I,ll get back with you folks shortly... :D :D :D
