Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I am doing the final assembly on my Teardrop. I have awning windows that crank out. So the door can't go all the way open or the awning windows will hit the body. I would really like some thing that holds the door in place when open if possible. What does everyone use?

Here is what I have.

Take a look at b.bodemer's album. I'm gonna use what she did. I think she took some of those pointy, straight out door stops and bent them so the window wouldn't hit the wall.

Camping World sells them for under $5 a door. I have them and really not too fond of the rubber stop as it wears out too fast. They carry another kind but you have to get out of the tear to release the catch. Danny

Yes.......I got my door stops from Camping World, under $5 per side, and just had to put the one part in a vise and slightly bend it.

Really works great and I don't have to worry that a window is open too far and that the side would be gouged. Someone else on this forum had posted pics of the same idea and I copied his idea for my td.

Why not copy the door restraints in your Jeep? In the TD you could use leather straps. I've seen a couple in the galleries done that way.

I installed these straps which leaves the outside clean. They have steel strips and screws for mounting.

Thats a great idea! I like it much better then drilling into the body. This is why I love this board. Someone always has the answer.

Mine are similar to Uncle Denny's. I made them from a piece of seatbelt out of a junkyard.

I also used straps like Denny and Joanne...another trick...leave one window open, and lock that door ...Keeps people from opening it and hitting the side when inspecting/or touring the tear. You just need to remember not to wing doors open or leave the windows too far open, short of that, plan on some serious rubber bumpers on the exterior, or some type system to hold the door in a fixed open position. I know that Gage has a rod that he uses to open the tear for inspection, but won't allow the window to get into the side. Good that you are thinking about this...better now than later Doug
