Modifying HF 1175 trailer.

Since I have a little more time to wait I'm thinking in advance... I'm planning on a tongue box (treasure chest) for battery supply, tools, and whatever but haven't come up with any sizes or weights yet. It's my understanding the HF1175 has a "V" frame tongue with a 50deg coupler. Has anyone added a straight tube down the middle, splitting the "V" to lengthen the tongue and used a different coupler? You couldn't use the HF coupler because it would no longer be 50deg, right?
Also, how much leeway is there for moving the axle forward/backward to correct balance/weight issues? May not even be an issue as the galley area will weigh considerably more than the tongue box, but if I need to adjust it'd be nice to know in advance. I expect plenty of "surprises" as it is. :?
Reality? What a concept!
