Joanne - Thanks Joanne. I'm trying to get all the major stuff done before the end of the year. I won't have as much free time when the new year starts up, so as long as the big stuff is out of the way I should be finished before the end of January.

john - Ha! That is one of my favorite tears. I wish Roly had more info about it on this site. A friend of mine wants something like that to pull behind her car.

I'm trying to figure it out too, Mike. :lol:

No, I'm either going to cut the floor and make a small step up into the camper (like shopfabricator has done on his campers) or box it in and have a small box for wheel chocks. I'm thinking I'll make the step. The door on the original Puffin bothered me because it had too much area below it, so I wanted the full door look on this build.

doesn't look like you have much room for a step inside the door. Maybe you can fabricate a flip down step. Only issue would be figuring a way to use the door without having to flip it up every time.

That's a good idea too. It's about an 8" gap from the frame rail to the side. 8" step isn't a full step, but it's plenty for a step up I think. I would just step over the gap, but for shorter people it would be handy.

I thought about a slide out step, but you'd have to slide it back in everytime you closed the door, but then maybe the door would pull it in when it closed? :thinking:

how about a flip step with angle on each side. The angle would go in notches on either side of the door. You could flip it up for travel, but have the door operate normally with the step flipped out as it would be flush with the bottom of the door. Sounds like you only need 6" or so to give you a 12" step which would be a sufficient stair tread.
