I think I'll mount the hinge on the inside and put the angle trim and hinge up with the same screws.

Your progress and work is impressive. I'm planning to go with the hinge on the inside. I think it looks cleaner. Again nice work!

Thanks guys. I went through a "why'd I start this thing" but now I'm having fun and gettin' it done. Actually looking forward to the doors and hatch. Just hope the top skin goes as well as the sides. I'm using .040 instead of .032. all around but I'm not worried about weight.

I'll echo Steve's comment about the very clean looking metal work. Nice!

As far as the "why'd I start this thing" feeling...I've noticed that once we have committed publicly (on this forum) to building a trailer we can't just throw in the towel. It's that human trait of not wanting to be a loser. ;)

Geron,
Excellent metal work, do you have and tips on persuading the angle? Did you anneal the aluminum?

Hinge inside definitely! As far as the trim under the hinge I just installed them with caulking and, as you mentioned, used the same screws to secure both hinge and angle trim.

I cheated. I ordered the T1 from Grant. It bent like butter. I did experiment with the T5 angle from HD. 1/2 x 1/16 with one side cut to around 1/4 to 3/8 inch it would bend quite easily when annealed. HD also has the 1/2 x .050 angle. I used this for the straight side because the trim I Got from Grant looked like .050 like the hatch hinge. Annealing of the HD angle was not a problem but time consuming. I feel certain I'll use HD aluminum one my NEXT :? one.
