Help...newbie mistake

Postby hammer & tongs » Tue Apr 26, 2005 4:32 pm

I thought...I have built many things before, so I don't need to wait for plans...
The guys on the forum are so knowledgeable and helpful, I should be able to pick up enough from them to do the job quite well..

I have the floor bolted in the sidewalls up, ready to lay vinyl and put spars in place..
Actually I am quite proud of the job so far, except for one thing...

I assembled the floor with 3/8 " CDX 2X3 frames, 1/2 " foam board and a Luan bottom (X-glued), then I coated the bottom and edges , including footwell liberally with emulsion..

Problem; I did not coat the area between the Luan and the 3/8" CDX, so I have raw wood in the sealed compartments.....

Any corrective suggestions ?

Are there " breather cores" such as a home insulator may use, that I can install in the bottom layer ?

raw wood in sealed compartments is rarely a problem.... the moisture moves in and out so slowly, no big deal.

People always worry about condensation in old house walls, empty of insulation.... I've never seen a problem.... except around sills, where water infiltrates.....

I woudn't bother trying to vent them, that might cause more trouble...
