Started my build site...

Some of you might recall my post on how to get my $500 eBay purchased teardrop from Pennsylvania to New Mexico. Well I got it here more than a month ago and have started a 'build' site:

Thus far it is more of an 'unbuild' site as I had to tear the teardrop completely down to the rusted chassis as the builder DIDN'T PAINT IT! No time for chit-chat, I've got sanding to do.

Wow!!! What IRA Rat said is right... Be very very afraid... I'd like to put that in the Hall of Fame, for a couple reasons...

One... to show people there are really dangers out there

Two... to show what has to be done to fix a mess like that...

Isaw the shelving unit you got for free and I highly reccomend intalling used furniture. I have an antique desk that I cut up for my galley, the main shelf is a wonderful oak and the styling would be impossible for me to repro. It took alot of gorilla glue and a bunch of 3D imagination but the whole thing works well and still has a vintage feel

the exterior radius looks to have been cut with a circular saw to be so choppy or is that an opitical illusion. It has great potential for a rebuild. I think you made out alright as long as the trailer is well made, better than the body, I hope

NASA has decals from the space ship Challenger. That might be a good name for your Project.

Oh, btw, I took another look at the trailer... and it looks like you made out okay. You have a decent trailer, that alone is worth the $500. Any other parts you can reuse is just a bonus...

Boy that really surprised me...
Thinking back... The seller must have used some pretty outdated pictures, because it sure didn't seem that rough looking when I looke at that on Ebay a few months back...
This would be a good question to ask when buying a trailer on Ebay... "How recent are these photos?"

Sorry to hear that it isn't exactly what you expected. It sort of looks like someone attemped a comet design. As mentioned above, if the frame is in good shape and all the parts you have, it's worth 500$. It's tough to buy things sight unseen or poorly represented. Don't let it discourage you though, It just means a lot more work. Doug Hodder
