I'm using Dow R4 sheathing (3/4) throughout as insulation in my tear. Are ya supposed to peel that real thin layer of plastic off both sides? Probably doesnt make any difference, but thought I'd ask.

I've never used the Dow product...but the plastic may be a vapor barrier there to prevent the insulation from becomming water logged...be careful

Hey Scooter,

I used the same stuff in my tear. Floor, ceiling, walls and even had some left over to insulate an icebox I made. I left the vapor barrier on both sides. I didn't see any reason to remove it, however, I don't think it would matter much.

Hope this helps. Ross

The thin skin on both sides of the insulation is for additional strength,,sort of surface tention,,if ya look close it usually has tiny holes in it,,it can be left on or pelled off,,no difference,,,if ya real bored start peeling,,
