Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

HI GUYS & GALS JUST FOUND YOUR SITE LAST NITE ITS GREAT
I'M JUST GETTING STARTED I HAVE ACQUIRED A 18FOOT BOAT
TRAILER MADE OF 2X2 SQUARE TUBING PLANNING ON CCUTTING IT DOWN AND USING IT ANY THOUGHTs

Sorry about the all caps I'm a little new at this stuff did not kwow it was rude.

For an 18'boat..either roller type or bunk type trailer....I would think that in addition to shortening the frame, narrowing it, you are also gonna have to narrow the axle...just make sure you get all squared up on the axle before you weld it up....or you'll scrub off tires pretty quickly...make sure everything is square and when it is all said and done, that your hubs are parallel and that the dimensions are equal from the axle stub ends to the ball socket....just my thoughts....Doug

Always makes me feel good to know that my web site is a benefit to the tear community. I get enjoyment out of creating it, but I'm also hoping that someone will see the site and decide to build their own.

I was at HD today to pick up some insulation for the trailer. It works out 'cause the trailer is the only thing I own that would haul it. The guy there was amazed that I am building my own little camping trailer. A lot of folks are just amazed when you tell them what you are building. My roommate's boyfriend even thinks it's "tight". (I guess that means "cool" in old folk's jargon!)

I'm glad that there is a renaissance in small camping trailers and teardrops. With the price of gas where it is, we may see more of a teardrop revolution than a renaissance!
