If you can't beg any from a local welder, your local recycler will usually sell it by the pound. Where I live, I can browse through their pile and pick what I want. You find some good pieces some times! I ocassionally do this when I need a bunch of small odd pieces for a project.

another novice with a HF welder

Postby kartvines » Tue Sep 06, 2005 8:36 pm

I bought the same HF welder, I figured I have taught myself everything else, so welding should not be that hard, unlike most of the other things I taught myself , I could find no instruction book on Mig welding, which really surprised me, the little guide that came with the welder was worthless. Does any more know of a basic guide that a novice can learn the basics?

Here's a guide from Hobart's site. http://www.hobartwelders.com/techtips.html
They've got some message boards too that might give you some tips. http://www.hobartwelders.com/mboard/
Lincoln has a library of articles too http://www.lincolnelectric.com/knowledg ... s/list.asp

I'm sure there's more info to be found with a search.
