I am going to try predrilling the holes, slighty over size of the major diameter of the screws, and use cup washers under the flat head screws and see what happens!

I think it is just the torque of driving the screws thru the undrilled plastic, the heads hit, tighten up and cause the material to shift and PUCKER.

Probably best to drive the screws 95 percent of the way in with a drill/driver and the last by hand to avoid over tightening!

let us know how that works as I was thinking the same thing.

I also noticed that mcmaster carr has self sealing screws which have a rubber washer on them.

With plastic, I think it will ripple anyway because of the sealant...

They make a metal carpet edge that might work over the plastic hinge. It is made to go over the edge of a carpet with a 45 degree lip that drops down to floor level....

Arne thats exactly what I used to cover the whole mess up!

Gives it a nice finished look, almost like we know what we are doing!
